I wasn’t looking for anything particularly fancy when I bought the MOOKA KJ190L. I wanted an air purifier that could handle a reasonably large room, deal with everyday dust and odors, and most importantly, run quietly enough that I wouldn’t eventually get tired of hearing it.
The KJ190L caught my attention because it offered quite a bit for the price. It has an H13 HEPA filter, activated carbon filtration, a washable pre-filter, four fan speeds, sleep mode, a timer, and a fragrance feature. MOOKA also rates it for spaces up to 2,200 square feet.
On paper, that sounded like everything I needed.
After actually using it, though, I found that some of its features impressed me more than others. The filtration and everyday usability were the highlights for me, while there were a couple of things I wouldn’t necessarily consider reasons to buy this particular model.
Here’s what my experience was like.
Setting Up the MOOKA KJ190L
Getting the purifier ready didn’t take much effort.
The first thing I did was remove the packaging and prepare the filter. This is something I always recommend checking carefully with a new air purifier because the filter is often wrapped in plastic for shipping. You obviously don’t want to turn the machine on with that plastic still around it.
Once everything was ready, I placed the KJ190L in the room where I wanted to use it and plugged it in.
The controls were straightforward enough that I didn’t need to spend much time figuring them out. I could select the fan speed, activate sleep mode, set the timer and control the other functions without constantly reaching for the manual.
That’s important to me because an air purifier is something I want to set up and forget about rather than another complicated smart-home device.
The First Thing I Noticed Was the Airflow
I started on one of the lower fan settings because I wanted to see how it behaved during normal use.
The airflow was noticeable without being aggressive. I could feel air moving from the unit, but it wasn’t so strong that it became annoying to sit nearby.
After leaving it running for a while, I started paying more attention to the room itself rather than the machine.
The air seemed fresher, particularly when I had been cooking or when the room had been closed up for several hours. I also liked having the option to increase the fan speed when I wanted more airflow instead of leaving it permanently on the highest setting.
That’s actually how I ended up using it most of the time. I didn’t need maximum power constantly. A lower setting was enough for everyday use, while the higher speeds were useful when I wanted to move more air through the room.
I Really Liked the Washable Pre-Filter
The washable pre-filter ended up being one of my favorite features.
I have always disliked the idea of buying an air purifier and then discovering that the filter gets covered in dust and hair surprisingly quickly. With the KJ190L, the washable pre-filter gives me a way to deal with that initial buildup.
After using it regularly, I could see why this feature is particularly useful for homes with pets.
The pre-filter catches larger particles before they reach the main filtration system, so being able to clean it periodically makes a lot of sense.
Just don’t confuse “washable filter” with “never buy another filter.” The main filtration system still needs replacement eventually. The washable component simply makes routine maintenance easier.
How Quiet Is It at Night?
This was one of the things I cared about most.
I don’t want an air purifier that sounds like a fan running beside my bed all night.
On sleep mode and the lower settings, the KJ190L was easy enough for me to live with. After a while, I stopped paying much attention to it.
That was a good sign.
The situation changes when I increase the fan speed.
At the higher settings, the fan becomes much more noticeable. It’s not what I’d call ridiculously loud, but it isn’t something I’d describe as silent either.
I found myself using the lower settings most of the time and saving the higher settings for situations where I wanted stronger airflow.
So if you’re buying this specifically for a bedroom, I’d say the sleep mode is one of its stronger features. If you’re expecting the machine to remain whisper-quiet at maximum speed, you’ll probably be disappointed.
What I Thought About the Fragrance Feature
The fragrance function sounded more exciting before I actually used it.
The KJ190L has a small fragrance sponge where you can add essential oil. I tried it because I wanted to see whether it could double as a light scent diffuser.
It works, but I wouldn’t buy the purifier because of this feature.
The fragrance is much more noticeable close to the machine than across the room. It gives you a subtle scent rather than turning the entire room into an aromatherapy session.
For me, that’s perfectly fine because I bought the KJ190L primarily as an air purifier.
I see the fragrance function as a nice extra rather than a major selling point.
What Happened With Dust and Pet Odors?
This is where I think the KJ190L makes the most sense.
I bought it because I wanted to improve everyday air quality, not because I expected it to perform some dramatic transformation overnight.
After using it regularly, I noticed the room generally felt fresher. Odors didn’t seem to linger as much, and the amount of dust accumulating on and around the purifier made it pretty obvious that the machine was pulling plenty of material out of the air.
The combination of the pre-filter, HEPA filtration and activated carbon makes sense for this type of everyday use.
If you have pets, I think the washable pre-filter becomes even more useful because hair and larger particles can build up quickly.
Does It Really Cover 2,200 Square Feet?
This is the specification I’d treat with some caution.
MOOKA advertises the KJ190L for rooms up to 2,200 square feet, but I wouldn’t interpret that as “put one machine anywhere in a 2,200-square-foot house and every room will have perfectly filtered air.”
My experience has been much more relevant to individual living spaces.
In a bedroom, living room or similarly sized area, the purifier makes much more sense to me. Airflow and room layout still matter, especially in large open spaces.
So I wouldn’t let the 2,200-square-foot number alone determine whether you need one or multiple units.
The Downsides I Found
After living with the KJ190L, I wouldn’t call it perfect.
The biggest issue for me is the noise at higher fan speeds. I like having the extra airflow, but I don’t particularly enjoy listening to the machine at full power for long periods.
The fragrance feature is another minor disappointment. It works, but the scent isn’t strong enough for me to consider this a serious diffuser.
And although the washable pre-filter is excellent, I still have to factor replacement filter costs into the long-term ownership of the machine.
These aren’t deal-breakers for me. They’re simply things I’d want to know before buying.

Would I Buy the MOOKA KJ190L Again?
After using the MOOKA KJ190L, I understand why it has attracted so much positive attention.
What I like most is that it doesn’t try to make air purification unnecessarily complicated. I can turn it on, select the fan speed I want and let it do its job.
The washable pre-filter is genuinely useful, the lower settings are quiet enough for nighttime use, and I noticed the biggest benefits when dealing with everyday dust, odors and pet-related particles.
The higher fan speeds are louder than I’d like, and the fragrance feature isn’t particularly impressive, but neither issue changes my overall opinion of the purifier.
Would I buy it again? Yes, especially if I wanted an affordable purifier for a bedroom, living room or other sizeable space.
I wouldn’t buy it for the fragrance feature, and I wouldn’t expect the 2,200-square-foot rating to mean one machine can perfectly handle an entire large home.
But as an everyday air purifier, the MOOKA KJ190L has done what I wanted it to do. It’s practical, relatively quiet when I need it to be, easy to maintain, and gives me several useful operating options without making the whole experience complicated.
For me, that’s ultimately what makes it worth considering.
